The Front Line was commissioned by Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble for a show supporting Portland's local unions. I chose to collaborate with Oregon Nurse's Association, interviewing nurses from Providence Portland and Seaside to gain their perspective on the history and current working conditions of ONA, and using what I learned to craft the lyrics of the song and narration.
